There’s something about Air shows that brings out the most picturesque version of Americana. The family atmosphere, picnic baskets, beer & hotdog stands, country music blasting everywhere, and add in the smell of jet fuel and a constant rumble in the blue skies that starts faint and ends up with a thundering scream of the mighty fighter planes screaming past to the screaming excitement of kids dressed in junior fighter pilot suits
The fort Worth Air Show, at Alliance Airport, is one of the oldest airshows in Texas. It always feels like part NASCAR, part air show in overall vibe. Since the beginning, the headliner has always been the legendary Blue Angels. Initially formed in 1946, Blue Angels are the second oldest flight acrobatics team in the world after France’s Patrouille de France. The Angels embody the spirit of patriotism, precision, and the utmost perfection. And they make sure it’s on full display from the moment the pilots walk on to the platform, to take off, to the perfectly crafted maneuvers leaving zero room for error.
Walking through the airshow is a dream to any fan of airplanes, civilian, military, and all categories in between. Guests get to walk on the airport’s sprawling tarmac, and get up close and personal with massive airplanes they only get to see through the glass windows of an airport’s terminal. It was fun getting under a hulking 757, realizing the tire is almost my height. We move through tons of vintage airplanes spanning iconic eras from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq War, all the way to the present day latest introductions to the mighty airforce
